Anino Shadowplay Collective

Anino Shadowplay Collective

by admin / Sunday, 16 July 2017 / Published in Arts & Photography, Cultural Events, Dance, Music, Theatre

This group of multimedia artists was formed in 1996.

The members are all comitted to popularizing the art of shadowplay. Educators, cultural workers, visual artists, musicians, theatre practitioners… All of them come from diverse backgrounds !

Anino Shadowplay Collective is all about the Philippine traditional art and literature, political history and contemporary culture. It lies on Philippine culture itself, but it also takes influence from universal pop imagery and “international” experimental art.

The group offers live performances, exhibitions, videos, animation and workshops, often in collaboration, with educational and art institutions and, occasionally, with commercial establishments.

So their work, such as projected images and hybrid theatrical styles, deal questions of Filipino identity.

Their last work from 2016 is called “This Here. Land.” ; it is a creative development of a new performance work with Paschal Daantos Berry.
