In 2013, Caroline Garcia a Bachelor of Design in Photography & Situated Media / a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (Mexico Major), in the University of Technology Sydney.
Her works concerns forgotten choreographies, mimesis, alternate ways of viewing images of the past that eschew classical myths, and the cultural makeup of the Filipino.
Across live performances and videos, she takes an intersectional approach to contemporary dance, the politics of cultural identity and the diasporic body.
Caroline’s practice is shaped by alterity, echoing notions of cultural ambiguity and displacement by adopting the role of shape shifter – sliding into the gaps between cultures, experiences of otherness and timeless clichés of exotic femininity.
